Black Swan (NHMW-Zoo1-VS 63420)3D Model
3D scan of a black swan (Cygnus atratus), a large bird which is native to Australia and Tasmania. Fully grown black swans can be up to about 1.40 meters long and weigh up to 9 kilograms.
In Austria the black swan is an alien species which breeds irregularly elsewhere. In Vienna a breeding population with up to 170 individuals became extinct in the late nineties.
The exhibited specimen has been donated to the NHM Vienna in 1921 by the “Tiergarten Schönbrunn”.
This black swan can be found in Hall 30 of the Natural History Museum Vienna.
