More model information

On August 15, 2014, a large earth crack was observed cutting across the desert landscape near Hermosillo, Mexico. Although initial reports suggested an earthquake or subsidence origin, field investigations led scientists to propose that an underground stream had collapsed. An important observation is that there is no ground deformation surrounding the crack (tilting, or surface uplift or subsidence) and the barbed wire fences that cross the crack were not deformed. In fact, several fence posts were left suspended in the air above the crack. These observations suggest that this is a collapse feature. I created the model using frame grabs from drone footage from Youtube. A great discussion of this crack can be found at https://www.metabunk.org/debunked-the-earth-splitting-open-giant-crack-in-mexico-subsidence-fissure-erosion.t4283/
