More model informationThis is a single panel of petroglyphs carved deeply into boulders of the Bishop Tuff along Fish Slough Road. The Bishop Tuff is a thick rhyolitic ejecta blanket that was erupted from the Long Valley caldera 767,000 years ago. The surface of the boulders is darkened by weathering, lichen growth, and formation of desert varnish, while the chiseled petroglyphs show the lighter color of the original rock.
