Willendorf expedition box 40 (1908/09)3D Model
3D scan of an expedition box from the excavations undertaken at the site Willendorf II in 1908 and 1909. Within these boxes lithic artefacts were stored, which were deemed as ‘waste’ by the original excavators in 1908/09, and therefore in their eyes not worth further studying. However, several research projects in the past recorded the immense potential of the finds in these boxes, showing the range of various raw materials and objects of blank production at the site Willendorf II. Also the newspapers give us an invaluable section into the interests and reading habits of the excavations of 1908/09.
The box was digitized for the go!digital 3.0 project bITEM.
